Anemia can cause renal failure?

In general, anemia can occur in various stages of chronic renal failure. Some patients without a clear history of kidney, in addition to never before made a urine test, once his face poor, often mistaken for iron deficiency anemia. In fact, this is a renal failure and anemia, which is a common complication of chronic renal failure. The main reason for renal anemia in chronic renal failure, renal generation and secretion of erythropoietin insufficient. The human body is about 90% of erythropoietin by the kidneys, the normal division of the red blood cell development and maturation plays a key role in the regulation. With the destruction of the nephron in chronic renal failure, the kidneys and secrete erythropoietin will decrease gradually lead to renal anemia.
Erythropoietin EPO lack not only of renal anemia, many other factors are also involved in or promote the formation of renal anemia, such as red blood cell life span shortened, iron deficiency, folate deficiency, malnutrition, acute and chronic inflammation, chronic blood loss ( gastrointestinal loss), severe hyperparathyroidism, aluminum toxicity and low thyroid function less and so on. Renal anemia can cause a range of adverse consequences, affecting virtually every organ system in the body. Cardiovascular, can cause enlargement of the heart, cardiac hypertrophy, increased incidence of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (such as coronary events, heart failure, cerebral infarction, etc.), is an independent predictor of congestive heart failure and death; accelerate kidney disease progress and renal function; lead to cognitive dysfunction; menstrual disorders, sexual dysfunction; decreased immune function; affect the quality of life, increased mortality and increase the duration of hospitalization.
